Lafayette Hotels is a property management company with five Best Westerns in their portfolio.

Lafayette Hotels approached Blizzard at the end of 2006 about the new restrictions Best Western Corporate was placing on the image of their franchisees’ websites. Although Best Westerns are independently owned properties, the franchise saw a branding flaw in the thousands of different websites that were being advertised. In order to display a more cohesive brand image while still giving each property some room for individual flare, Best Western Corporate released a set of guidelines that all participating hotels would need to follow on their websites.

Blog Design

• Blizzard was able to quickly produce five separate designs for the Best Western properties within the new guidelines.
• Blog technology was used to build the websites quickly and give the individual hotels the ability to manage their own content.
• Blizzard designed a template which was approved by Best Western then modified it with each of the properties’ content.
• Using the blog technology allowed each of the properties to choose special website features to incorporate for their guests like a local guide with a calendar of events and virtual tours.
• Examples of those Best Western designs in addition to the Merry Manor Inn in South Portland, ME, include the Greenfield Inn in Allen Park, MI, Black Bear Inn & Conference Center in Orono, ME, Waterville Hotel in Waterville, ME, and Whitehouse Inn in Bangor, ME.

What’s Next?

The Best Western owners are now able to modify and add content to the websites themselves all within the approved template. This will allow each property to take advantage of their attractions pages and build additional content for their guests and search engines.
