SEO Hosting Plans

Blizzard recommends a set of six new Search Engine Optimization (SEO) activities to be performed by our hosting department on your behalf. These are largely one-time activities AND you will not even notice we have done them. We are trying to do this for all of our customers… and we certainly do it for all of our own company websites.

• Install a 301 redirect: Redirect your “non-www” to forward to the “www” pages of your website.
• Set-up Google and Yahoo XML Sitemaps: Sitemaps enable us to proactively register all of your website’s pages with Google and Yahoo (MSN is not supporting .xml sitemaps at this time.)
• Install a Custom 404 error page: If someone tries to go to a non-existent page in your website or misspells a URL, your custom 404 page will redirect them to the right place. The alternative, of course, is losing them completely!
• Install a Robots.txt file: The robots.txt file both encourages search engines to find the pages you want and dissuades them from visiting pages you’d rather keep to yourself.
• Perform a Broken Link Analysis: We will analyze your website for broken links and send them to you and your website designer. Many older websites develop broken internal and external links over time.
• Setup Your Website on a Unique IP Address: We will move your website from a “shared” IP address to a unique IP address.
