The General Lewis Inn and Restaurant is a historic county inn and is
located on the site of an 1862 civil war battle in Lewisburg, West
Virginia. The inn and the town of Lewisburg are named in honor of
Andrew Lewis, an Irish general, who came to the Greenbrier area in
1751 and "discovered" Lewis Spring. The town of Lewisburg is built
around this natural spring which is situated only three blocks from
the General Lewis Inn.
The inn features 25 clean and cozy bedrooms, most of them with
over 100 year old beds which gives this accommodation a real
authentic flavor. Our restaurant features one of the finest menus in
the area. Specialty foods, homemade breads and desserts are prepared
daily accompanied by extensive wine list.
This town full of history. In the backyard of our inn, a battery of
Virginia artillery was placed. The Greenbrier Valley offers numerous
cultural as well as outdoor activities. Visit one of the three
surviving Carnegie Halls or enjoy mountain biking, fishing, canoe
and rafting, and hiking trails. The General Lewis Inn is the perfect
setting for a romantic historical getaway.
